June 2011 podcast – Alex Preda
In the latest addition of our podcast, the Origenes crew presents Alex Preda. Here a Q&A with Alex.
Q: Alex, most of the Origenes fans would be used to seeing you alongside your partner in crime Dragos, but we all know there is another side of you that comes out in your own sets. What would you say the real difference is?
A: It is true that I have mostly been playing together with Dragos (aka Mentis Abutor) as Sonocracy, but we are both showing our individual identities as well. I tend to be more melodic, uplifting and sometimes dramatic, going through progressive and techno styles. I love those great melodic lines combined with hard base lines and beats. Sonocracy is blending many more styles with a different approach, in the end giving to techno a different twist, a cool one, of course!
Q: You’ve also been pretty busy with producing some awesome new tracks – what can we expect from you in this regard over the upcoming year?
A: Yeah, I have just released an EP called “Hell / Heaven” on “Minimo Records” together with a Romanian friend, Frantz. You can find this for download on Beatport here. This EP is expressing the contrast between my musical approach and Frantz’s. Have a listen to see what I mean.
Just a couple of days ago I signed another track (“Looking Around”) with the new label “Electric Music”. This will be released on the coming weeks. By the way, the owner of this label has invited Sonocracy to play at his party “Emerge” – don’t miss it! Check “Electric Amsterdam” on Facebook for details.
Furthermore, I am working on an album and an EP right now. These are expected to be released by the end of this year.
Q: The last Origenes party was a blast, with a massive turnout and another great night. Where do you see it going in the future?
A: I am every time surprised at Origenes parties, I see more people having fun and going crazy on our beats. Everybody seems to like our concept. I want to thank to all for making Origenes such a great place to be. I look forward to the next blast!
Q: Finally, any big plans for the next few months?
A: I want to dedicate more time on producing in order to release some rocking tracks. You will be soon hearing some hot new stuff from me, but as well from Sonocracy. I am also looking forward to collaborating with the guys from Origenes. So, it is going to be busy and fun!
